「彦根城」 世界文化遺産登録 ことしの推薦見送り 文化庁
世界文化遺産への登録を目指している滋賀県の「彦根城」について、文化庁は「価値の説明をさらに充実させる必要がある」として、ことし国内の候補としてユネスコに推薦するのを見送る方針を決めました。
「彦根城」は、城郭が長い期間、維持され、御殿なども数多く残ることから江戸時代の大名の統治の仕組みを象徴する存在だとして、滋賀県と彦根市が世界文化遺産への登録を目指していました。
26日、文化審議会の世界文化遺産部会で審議が行われ、大名の統治の仕組みを説明するうえで重要となる城郭や大名の定義が不十分だとして、「価値の説明をさらに充実させる必要がある」という判断を示しました。
この結果を踏まえて文化庁は、ことし国内の候補としてユネスコへの推薦を見送る方針を決めました。
彦根城の推薦をめぐっては、去年、ユネスコの諮問機関による事前評価で、大名による統治の仕組みを十分に表現できているかという課題が指摘されていました。
今後、文化庁は来年以降の推薦に向けて滋賀県や彦根市に対し必要な助言を行っていきたいとしています。
