6日昼ごろ、熊本県宇城市の竹やぶで火事があり、現在も消火活動が続いています。消防によりますと、地震の影響で消火栓の水圧が不足しているとみられ、消火活動が難航しているということです。

6日正午ごろ、宇城市松橋町古保山で竹やぶが燃えているのを近くに住む人が見つけ、消防に通報しました。

現在消防車やヘリコプターで消火活動が行われていますが、消防によりますと、地震の影響で消火栓の水圧が不足しているとみられるほか、強風によって上空からの消火も難航しているということです。

7月28日の地震で、宇城市は震度7の揺れを観測していて、一部で断水や水圧の低下が起きているということです。

現場は、九州自動車道の松橋インターチェンジの北側で田畑が広がる中に住宅が点在していて、消防が住民に避難するよう呼びかけています。

午後4時ごろ、NHKが撮影した映像では、大量の白っぽい煙が立ち上り、時折真っ赤な炎が高くあがる様子も見られました。
