サムスンがヘルストラッキング用のスマートリング「Galaxy Ring」を日本市場に投入する。その機能について知っておくべきことを詳しく解説していこう。

健康管理に便利なデバイスに新たな選択肢が加わる。サムスンがヘルストラッキング用のスマートリング「Galaxy Ring」を日本で発売することを発表したのだ。
指輪型デバイスであるスマートリングの市場には、Ouraをはじめとする多くのスタートアップが参入している。生体情報や睡眠データなどを測定できる健康管理を重視した製品や、タッチ決済やスマートキーといった機能が搭載されたデバイスが多い。
そこにサムスンがGalaxy Ringの発売で2024年7月に参入したが、日本市場への投入は未定とされていた。日本市場で販売されているスマートリングとしては、健康管理に特化した「Oura Ring」のほか、タッチ決済やスマートロックの解除に対応した「EVERING」などが知られている。Galaxy Ringは健康や睡眠を管理する機能に重点を置いているので、Oura Ringと真正面から競合することになるだろう。
Galaxy Ringはチタン製の指輪型デバイスで、サムスンは人差し指への装着を推奨している。光学式心拍センサーや加速度センサー、温度センサーを内蔵しており、心拍数や血中酸素飽和度（SpO2）、睡眠のモニタリング、運動のトラッキング、歩数や消費カロリーの計測、生理周期のトラッキングなどが可能だ。
つまり、一般的なスマートウォッチやヘルストラッカーがもつ健康管理機能の多くを網羅している。また、IP68等級の防塵・防水と10気圧の防水性能があるので、シャワーを浴びながらでも、皿洗いをしながらでも使える。
サムスンのスマートフォン「Galaxy」シリーズと連携させれば、ジェスチャーでスマートフォンを操作できる点はGalaxy Ringならではの特徴だ。触覚フィードバックがないなど機能こそ限られているが、指先をくっつけたり離したりするダブルピンチの動作で写真や動画を撮影したり、アラームを解除したりできる。
本体サイズは幅7.0mm×厚さ2.6mmで、重量はサイズによって2.3～3.3gとなる。実際に装着した印象は普通の指輪よりやや大きく感じるものの、ファッションアイテムとしても特に違和感なく着用できそうだ。スマートウォッチと比べれば圧倒的に小さくて軽いので、睡眠時に着けていても気にならないだろう。
バッテリー持続時間は最大7日間で、充電は付属の専用ケースに置くだけと簡単だ。なお、サムスンのスマートウォッチ「Galaxy Watch」と併用することで、持続時間は30%ほど長くなるという。これは生体情報を取得するセンサーの利用をGalaxy Watchと分担できるからだ。
