15日夜に行われたプロ野球、セ・リーグの巨人対DeNAの試合で、5月新たに導入された、危険なスイングをしたバッターへのペナルティーが初めて適用されました。

プロ野球の4月の試合で、バッターの手から離れたバットが球審の頭部を直撃した事故があり、NPB＝日本野球機構はスイングの際に滑ってすっぽ抜けた場合を含めてバットを投げ出すことを「危険スイング」として、警告や退場のペナルティーを適用するルールを新たに導入しました。

15日夜、東京ドームで行われた巨人対DeNAの試合で、7回ウラの巨人の攻撃中、浦田俊輔選手がスイングした際に手からバットがすっぽ抜けてピッチャーの方向に転がりました。

浦田選手は試合後、「ボールにバットを当てようとしたら飛んでいってしまった。対策は滑り止めのスプレーをすることだと思う」と話していました。
