KDDIは、ローソンと協力し、ローソン高輪ゲートウェイシティ店付近のスペースに「AI自動分別リサイクルボックス」を設置し、リチウムイオン電池の回収を行なう。実施期間は9月1日～11月30日。リチウムイオン電池に含まれる重要鉱物の有効活用を促進する取組み。回収には、消火装置を備えたフォーステックのAI自動分別リサイクルボックス「Bin-e」(ポーランド製)を採用。使用済みの携帯電話・スマートフォンやモバイルバッテリー、加熱式たばこ・電子たばこをAIが認識し、分別回収する。回収対象は膨張や破損がないもの。今回は、ユーザーにとって身近なコンビニという接点を活用した回収モデルの有効性を検証。ノウハウを蓄積し、実施地域の拡大も検討していく。 KDDIはすでにauショップなどで携帯電話・スマートフォンの回収を受け付けており、8月からは都内でモバイルバッテリーも回収している。また、東京都と新宿区が実施している回収キャンペーンに今回と同様の仕組みを提供して協力している。
