打上げ40秒前に中止されたスターシップ、6日に打上げへ
SpaceXは、3月4日(現地時間)の打上げ直前に中止された新型宇宙船「Starship Super Heavy(スターシップ/スーパーヘビー)」の8回目のフライトテストについて、3月5日に実施すると発表した。打上げウインドウは米国中部時間で17時30分(日本時間3月6日8時30分)から。

8回目のフライトテストは当初、2月28日(現地時間)に実施される予定だったが、延期され、3月4日に延期された。しかし、4日に行なわれたフライトテストでは、打上げ40秒前という直前の段階で不具合が判明し、打上げは延期となっていた。ライブ配信ではスーパーヘビーブースターについて不具合が発生したものの回復したとしていたが、結果として打上げは中止されている。その他の具体的な不具合の内容は公表されていない。
今回のテストでは、スターシップによる初のペイロード展開や、将来、打上げ場所に帰還して空中キャッチするために必要な複数回の再突入実験など、前回達成できなかった項目を実施する。スターシップはテスト終了後、地球へ再突入し、インド洋に着水する予定。一方、スーパーヘビーブースターについては、今回も打上げ場所に帰還し、チョップスティックによる空中キャッチを行なう。
