国産初の“ラピスラズリ”が新潟・糸魚川で発見！「キレイ」「夢がある」

今回、ラピスラズリであることが判明した青い石は、もともと趣味として収集された翡翠など糸魚川市の地元の岩石の中に含まれていたもので、姫川支流で発見されたとのことです。 収集者の2人が亡くなった後、翡翠などを扱う小滝物産が引き取り、国立科学博物館が化学組成分析とX線解析を行っていました。 鉱物の組み合わせから、外国産にはない特徴が確認され、国産ラピスラズリであると判明したとのことです。

糸魚川市の海岸では、以前にもラピスラズリの小礫が採集されたことがありましたが、外国産ではないかと考えられ、詳しい調査はされてきませんでした。 また、河底や海岸で採取され、見た目が似ている「デュモルティ石」の中にラピスラズリが含まれている可能性もあり、今後、発見が相次ぐ可能性もありそうです。 今回の発見の詳しい研究成果については、9月に鉱物科学会総会にて講演が行われる予定となっています。
