“仙人風呂”でかるた大会 湯船に浮かべた札とる 和歌山 田辺
「仙人風呂」と呼ばれる大きな露天風呂で、木の札を取り合うユニークな、かるた大会が和歌山県田辺市で行われました。
このかるた大会は、田辺市本宮町の河原に冬の間だけ設けられる「仙人風呂」と呼ばれる露天風呂で毎年行われていて、ことしも県内外から17チーム、68人が参加しました。
湯船には、ひらがなを一文字ずつ書いたおよそ1250枚の杉の板などの取り札が浮かべられ、4人1組のチームでとった数を競います。
熊野の魅力をつづった読み札が読み上げられると、参加者たちは湯をかき分け、水しぶきをあげながら露天風呂の中を探し回り、目当ての札を見つけると高く掲げていました。
中には、大阪・関西万博の公式キャラクター「ミャクミャク」や、ことしの干支（えと）にちなんだへびの仮装をして参加する人もいて、熱い戦いを繰り広げていました。
参加した田辺市の50代の女性は「とても楽しいです。この日のために、ミャクミャクのかぶり物を作りました。露天風呂のお湯も温かくて最高です」と話していました。
42枚を獲得して優勝した滋賀県の20代の大学生は「急きょ、大学の友達を誘って、参加したのですが、優勝できてうれしいです」と話していました。
