照ノ富士親方が寄贈した相撲場お披露目 横浜の公園内に整備
大相撲で10回の優勝を果たし、先月の初場所で引退した元横綱の照ノ富士親方が寄贈した相撲場が横浜市の公園内に完成し、子どもたちにお披露目されました。
相撲場は、子どもたちに相撲に親しんでもらおうと、照ノ富士親方側から横浜市に寄贈の申し入れがあり、親方や後援会が費用を負担してJR新横浜駅近くの「新横浜公園」内に整備されました。
22日は市内の相撲クラブに通う子どもたちや県内の相撲部の高校生を招いてお披露目式が行われ、照ノ富士親方のほか、伊勢ヶ濱部屋の力士たちも参加して一緒にしこを踏んだり、相撲をとったりしていました。
土俵の大きさはおよそ7メートル四方で、屋根もあり、ことし4月から子ども向けの相撲クラブの稽古場として活用されるということです。
小学3年生の子どもは「土がしっかりと硬くて稽古がしやすかった。もっと力をつけて大きな子に勝ちたい」と話していました。
照ノ富士親方は今後、全国のほかの自治体にも土俵を贈りたいとしていて「理想どおりの相撲場になり、ずっと考えてきたことが実現できてうれしい。多くの子どもたちが訪れる場になってほしい」と話していました。
