あの戦慄を劇場で！ A24の『MaXXXine マキシーン』公開記念！ 最恐ホラー『X エックス』『Pearl パール』イッキ見上映決定
6月6日から全国公開されるA24制作、タイ・ウエスト監督の『MaXXXine マキシーン』。その公開を記念して前作の『X エックス』『Pearl パール』の2本立て上映が、TOHO シネマズ 日比谷、TOHO シネマズ なんばにて5月24日に開催される。

毎月24日に、"A24×ハピネットファントム・スタジオ×TOHOシネマズ"によるA24の日を開催しているが、5月24日は『X エックス』『Pearl パール』のイッキ見上映を開催することが決定した。
ハピネットファントム・スタジオは、A24とパートナーシップ契約を締結しており、毎月24日に”A24制作×ハピネット配給”作品の特別上映を2025年1月から行っている。『X エックス』『Pearl パール』のイッキ見上映はその第5弾となる。さらにこの試みは12月まで継続することが決定し、今後の特別上映にも注目だ。
■来場者プレゼントも！
『X エックス』『Pearl パール』のイッキ見上映では、来場者プレゼントとして特製ステッカーのプレゼントも行われる。大島依提亜がデザインした『X エックス』『Pearl パール』『MaXXXine マキシーン』の日本公開版ポスターの「ミニチュアポスター」ステッカーの3枚セットとなっており、シリーズファンは見逃せない特典だ。
■シリーズ完結へ
2022年の『X エックス』公開からスタートした本シリーズ。企画当初、タイ・ウェスト監督は冗談半分のつもりでホラー3部作を構想していたそうだが、その企画を聞きつけたA24スタジオが本気で実現。A24史上初となるシリーズ作品の制作がスタートした。『X エックス』はその完成されたホラー描写に「2022年最高評価のホラー映画」と評され、ホラーブームの火付け役となる。
マキシーンを演じる主演のミア・ゴスは、『X エックス』で一人二役となりマキシーンに加え、最高齢の殺人鬼・パールも演じた。エロティックな見た目のマキシーンに反し、特殊メイクによって、元の姿からは想像できないほど皺くちゃでみすぼらしい老人へと変貌したミアの姿が注目を集めた。
2作目となる『Pearl パール』は、「映画史上、もっとも無垢なシリアルキラー誕生。」というキャッチコピーが体言するように、史上最高齢の殺人鬼・パール誕生の瞬間を描く。あのマーティン・スコセッシ監督が「ワイルドで魅力的。我々をもてあそぶ傑作！」と評すほど洗練された狂気を描く本作は、ベネチア映画祭を狂喜させ、ホラー映画初のオスカー候補とまで噂させるほどにまで登り詰めた。日本でも多くのファンを獲得し、パールの印象的な真っ赤なドレスでコスプレをする熱狂的な支持者が現れるほど、根強い人気を誇る作品となった。
■劇場で恐怖を味わうチャンス！
そして2025年、ついに『X エックス』『Pearl パール』に続く、『MaXXXine マキシーン』が公開される。シリーズ完結編となる本作は、『X エックス』で描かれた凄惨な事件から6年後のハリウッドが舞台。前作でも主演を務めたミア・ゴスが、再びマキシーンとしてスクリーンに帰ってくる。
もちろん、『MaXXXineマキシーン』を観た後に、『X エックス』『Pearl パール』を見直しても十分楽しめるが、もしまだ『X エックス』と『Pearl パール』を観ていないのであれば、劇場で戦慄を味わえるこのチャンスにぜひ映画館での観賞をオススメする。大きいスクリーンと迫力ある音響で、予習もしくは復習をしたうえで、6月6日の『MaXXXine マキシーン』に備えよう！
