福岡 八女 昔ながらの手もみでお茶仕上げる技術競う大会
新茶の季節を迎え、福岡県のお茶の産地、八女市では昔ながらの手もみでお茶を仕上げる技術を競う大会が開かれました。
この大会は、ほとんどのお茶の加工が機械化されるなか、昔ながらの手もみの技術を守り続けようと、八女茶の若手の生産者グループなどが毎年、茶摘みが始まるこの時期に開いています。
八女市の農業活性化センターで開かれたことしの大会には、若手の生産者など27人が参加しました。
参加者は3人ひと組になり、120度ほどに温められた「ホイロ」と呼ばれる台の上に、15日朝、摘み取ったばかりの新茶の葉を広げて、手際良くもんでいきました。
審査員は、会場を回って手もみの姿勢や手さばきなどをチェックしていました。
参加した30代の男性は「力加減や水加減、火加減などの調整が難しいですが、おいしいお茶を目指して頑張ります」と話していました。
お茶は4時間ほどで仕上げられ、色や香り、それに味などが細かく審査されました。
大会の優勝チームは、ことし11月に静岡県で開かれる全国大会に出場します。
