電動車いすが用水路や側溝に転落するなどして乗っていた高齢者が死亡する事故が過去10年間で34件起きているとして、NITE＝製品評価技術基盤機構が注意を呼びかけています。

NITEは21日の敬老の日を前に、電動車いすの高齢者の事故を再現した動画を公開しました。

NITEによりますと、去年までの10年間で、電動車いすでの高齢者の事故は59件報告されていて、このうちの34件は死亡事故だということです。

2021年には、電動車いすに乗っていた60代の男性が踏切で遮断機に引っかかって転倒し、列車にはねられて死亡する事故も起きています。

事故全体で▽最も多かったのは側溝や用水路、川などに転落で26件▽次いで踏切で電車と接触が13件▽下り坂や段差で転倒が11件などとなっています。

NITEは電動車いすを使用する際には、事前に道路の環境を確認し、踏切や道の端を走行しないようにすることや、転倒を防止する装置が機能しているかなどを点検するように注意を呼びかけています。
