小泉防衛大臣は13日、閣議のあとの記者会見で、新たに海外製の「スタンド・オフ・ミサイル」2種類の納入が始まったことを明らかにしました。
納入が始まったのは戦闘機に搭載する射程500キロのノルウェー製の長距離巡航ミサイル「JSM」と、射程およそ1600キロのアメリカ製の巡航ミサイル「トマホーク」です。
小泉大臣は「『スタンド・オフ・ミサイル』を含め、わが国の防衛力は相手から武力攻撃を受けた場合に初めて行使される、自衛のための必要最小限の防衛力であることに変わりはない」と述べ、他国に脅威を与えることはないと強調しました。
「トマホーク」について、防衛省は、護衛艦から発射できるようにするために改修が行われている、海上自衛隊佐世保基地のイージス艦「ちょうかい」に最初に搭載することにしています。
