アフリカ中部、コンゴ民主共和国でエボラ出血熱の流行が確認され、アフリカ連合の公衆衛生機関は、これまでに感染が疑われる65人が死亡したと発表しました。

アフリカ連合の疾病対策センターは15日、コンゴ民主共和国の北東部イトゥリ州でエボラ出血熱の流行が確認されたと発表しました。

これまでに感染が疑われる患者のうち65人が死亡したとしていて、ウイルスのゲノム解析を行うなど、感染の実態を詳しく調べています。

今回流行が確認されたイトゥリ州は、重要鉱物の鉱山が集中し反政府武装勢力が実効支配する一帯に近く、疾病対策センターは「鉱山関連の人の移動や、感染地域の治安悪化によるさらなる感染の拡大を懸念している」として、隣接する南スーダンやウガンダなどと協力しながら、早期の封じ込めを図るとしています。

コンゴ民主共和国ではたびたびエボラ出血熱が流行していて、2018年から20年にかけての流行では2000人を超える死者が出ました。
