JR東日本は、新幹線のレールなどを検査する新たな専用車両のデザインなどを発表しました。愛称は「SOAR（そあー）」で、現在の「East-i」に代わり2029年度中に導入する予定です。

新たな検査専用車両は、秋田新幹線で将来、導入される予定の7両編成の新型車両をベースとしていて、白を基調とした車体に緑と赤の線が施されています。

最高時速は320キロで、台車には複数のセンサーが取り付けられ、揺れや傾きなどを測定し、整備が必要な箇所や優先度をより明確にすることができるようになるとしています。

また、車体の前方や天井などにあわせて48台のカメラが設置され、走行しながら設備や沿線の環境を詳しく記録できるということで、今後はAI＝人工知能を活用した自動判定などの開発も進めるとしています。

車両の愛称は「SOAR」で、英語で「翔ける」という意味から安全に向かって翔けるという思いを込めたということで、現在の「East-i」に代わり2029年度中に東北・上越・北陸・山形および秋田新幹線の区間で導入される予定です。

JR東日本の喜勢陽一社長は記者会見で「精度の高い検査ができることから、安全安定運行にとって非常に大きなメリットになる」と話していました。
