WBCで活躍 ヌートバー描いたマンホールのふた設置 埼玉 東松山
おととしのWBC＝ワールド・ベースボール・クラシックで日本代表として活躍したヌートバー選手を描いたマンホールのふたが、ゆかりのある埼玉県東松山市に設置されました。
この取り組みは、大リーグで活躍する日本にゆかりのある選手をたたえようと企画され、23日はWBCで日本代表として活躍したラーズ・ヌートバー選手を描いたマンホールのふたが、その名前から野球関係者が必勝祈願に訪れる東松山市の箭弓稲荷（やきゅういなり）神社に設置されました。
ふたには、ボールをキャッチしようとするヌートバー選手の姿や、WBCで注目を集めた「ペッパーミル・パフォーマンス」のイラストなどが描かれています。
ヌートバー選手はアメリカ出身ですが、母・久美子さんが東松山市出身で祖父母が東松山市に住んでいます。
マンホールのふたのお披露目に立ち会ったヌートバー選手の祖父 榎田達治さんは「感激と感謝でいっぱいです。来年も侍ジャパンに入れるよう頑張ってほしい」と話していました。
箭弓稲荷神社の前原利雄宮司は「これを機会に、より多くの野球ファンの方に足を運んでもらえたらうれしいです」と話していました。
