SHUN SUDOが描く花々を銀座で体感──展覧会「HANA-MI」Ginza Sony Parkで開催
アメリカのポップカルチャーや日本画など、多様な要素をインスピレーション源にグローバルで活動する現代アーティスト、SHUN SUDOが、Ginza Sony Parkとコラボレーション。展覧会「ART IN THE PARK : SHUN SUDO “HANA-MI”」を、2026年3月7日（土）から3月29日（日）まで開催する。
2025年に作家活動10周年を迎えたSUDO。節目の年に、自身が生まれた日本で“花”をテーマにした展覧会を開催したいと考えたという。そこでパートナーに選んだのが、銀座の中心に位置し、「街に開かれた施設」をコンセプトに掲げるGinza Sony Parkだ。 「Ginza Sony Parkは、銀座のど真ん中にある“余白”。その存在が街を訪れる多くの人に元気や癒やしを与えている気がします。アートは人生に余白があってこそ楽しめるもの。自分の作品も、観た人が元気になってほしいという思いで描いています。美術館やギャラリーではなく、誰もが訪れることのできる公園で展示できることに大きな喜びを感じています。肩ひじ張らず、気楽に、文字通り『HANA-MI』をするような気分で楽しんでもらえたら」とSUDOは語る。
彼のアイコニックなモチーフのひとつが「BUTTON FLOWER（ボタンフラワー）」だ。花の中心に4つの小さな穴を描き、“二つの生地をつなぐボタンのように人と人の心もつなげたい”という思いが込められている。 会場3階と4階では、2024年から取り組んでいる油彩の新作35点以上を中心に展示。さらに、パリのグラン・パレ Rmn芸術工房で制作したスカルプチャー作品も展示・販売される。
数ある展示作品のなかでも、特に思い入れのある一作についてSUDOに訊くと「ローマを旅したときの思い出を描いた『Colosseo』です。旅が好きで世界中を巡ってきましたが、『HANA-MI』では各地で見た景色や受けた刺激を作品に落とし込みました。油絵という新たな挑戦によって、より鮮明に自分の記憶をキャンバスに映し出せるようになったと感じています」と語ってくれた。 地下2階では、新作シルクスクリーンや花をモチーフにしたトートバッグ、新作BE@RBRICKの先行発売など、展覧会限定グッズも展開予定だ。また、地下3階のカジュアルダイニング「1/2（Nibun no Ichi）」では、花をテーマにした期間限定コラボメニューが登場する。 銀座の“余白”に咲く、SUDOが描く花。街を訪れた際には、気軽に立ち寄って、アートを“お花見”のように楽しんでみてはいかがだろうか。
