世界最高峰のラグジュアリーカーブランドは、ロールス・ロイスだろう。歴史、価格、車格、どれをとってもトップクラスだ。
ロールス・ロイスの4ドアセダンのなかでも、ドライバーズカー（と言っても全長は5.0m超）と言うべき新型ロールス・ロイス ゴースト・シリーズⅡが日本に上陸した。
新型ロールス・ロイス ゴースト・シリーズⅡは、内外装のデザインがアップデートされた。フロントまわは、ロールス・ロイスのデザインアイコンである、「イルミネーテッド パンテオン グリル」が目をひく。
新型ロールス・ロイス ゴースト・シリーズⅡは、ヘッドライトとデイタイム ランニング ライトもデザインを刷新。グリル下部からフロントウイングのエッジへと流れ、 ゆったりとした車幅が強調された。
すでに上陸済みの「カリナン」にも通ずる新世代のロールス・ロイス デザインだ。
新型ロールス・ロイス ゴースト・シリーズⅡのフロントエンドの下部は、新しいクローム仕上げが加わり、先端に鎮座するマスコット「スピリット・オブ・エクスタシー像」を浮かび上がらせる台座となり、一段とロールス・ロイスであることを主張する。
リヤまわりは、BEV（バッテリー式電気自動車）「スペクター」からインスピレーションを得た、縦型の新しいテールランプを採用。サイドとリヤがうまく調和するようにデザインされた。
新型ロールス・ロイス ゴースト・シリーズⅡの足まわりは、新採用の22インチ、 9スポークのホイールを履く。全面ポリッシュ仕上げ、または部分ポリッシュ仕上げから選択可能だ。
ゴーストが継承する優美なエクステリアデザインはそのままに、先進性を加えたことで、伝統と革新を両立したのが特徴だ。
新型ロールス・ロイス ゴースト・シリーズⅡのエクステリアは、ロールス・ロイスらしく丁寧に組み立てていく。それゆえ、複雑かつ大胆なデザインを可能とする。この優美さは、ロールス・ロイスならではだ。
