「キャーー！」雨が降っていないのに落雷。女の子の真後ろで“恐怖の瞬間”が撮影される 米
米カリフォルニア州ハンティントンビーチで落雷が発生。幼い女の子の真後ろに落ちる瞬間を、カメラが偶然とらえた。

母親のティファニーさんは6月3日、自宅の玄関先を撮影。娘のペネロペちゃんがティファニーさんに質問した直後、ペネロペちゃんの真後ろにあるヤシの木に雷が落ちた。
大きな衝撃音を聞き、ティファニーさん、ペネロペちゃん、そして近くにいたペネロペちゃんの兄が、叫びながら自宅に駆け込む様子が映っている。逃げる子どもたちは、恐怖の表情を浮かべている。
SNSには「木に直撃して火が出てない？」「雨も降ってないし、嵐が近づいている様子もないのにビックリだね」「雷の中、外に出るのは危険ですよ」など、さまざまな声が寄せられている。
NBCによれば、幸い3人にケガはなく、落雷があった木は燃えたものの、雨ですぐに鎮火されたという。ティファニーさんは「雷が見えてから鳴るまでの秒数を数えていた」といい、嵐は遠くにあり、まだ近づいてきていないと思っていたそう。
Storyfulによれば、カリフォルニア州南部には当時、ところによって雷雨の注意報が出ていたという。米国立気象局（NWS）は、雷の音が聞こえたら、直ちに安全な場所に避難するよう呼びかけている。
