米FBIが現職の判事を逮捕 不法移民かくまい拘束を妨害した疑い
アメリカのFBI＝連邦捜査局は、不法移民をかくまい、当局による拘束を妨害したとして、裁判所の判事を逮捕したことを明らかにしました。
現職の判事が逮捕されるのは異例で、司法の独立を脅かしかねないと懸念の声も出ています。
FBIのパテル長官は25日、中西部ウィスコンシン州ミルウォーキーの裁判所のハンナ・ドゥガン判事を逮捕したことをSNSで明らかにしました。
ドゥガン判事は、今月18日に暴行の罪に問われて裁判所に出廷した不法移民の男について、移民税関捜査局の捜査官らが拘束しようとしていることを知り、法廷の別の出入り口から逃がそうとした疑いが持たれています。
不法移民の男は結局、裁判所の外で捜査官らに拘束されました。
トランプ大統領は25日、ドゥガン判事について記者団から質問されると「驚くべきもので、ひどいことだ」と述べて、不法移民の拘束を妨害しようとしたことを批判しました。
そのうえで「数十万人を国外追放にしたいのに、裁判所が妨げている。この国にとって危険なことだ」と述べ、不法移民の国外追放に対し、一時差し止めなどの判断を示す判事がいることへの不満を改めて表明しました。
ドゥガン判事はその後、保釈されましたが、現職の判事が逮捕されることは異例で、野党 民主党などからは、司法の独立を脅かしかねないと懸念の声も出ています。
