静岡県の下田海上保安部によりますと、3日午後1時50分すぎ、東京八丈島近くの海で「午前11時30分ごろからインストラクターと客の8人がダイビングを開始し、午後0時半に浮上してくる予定だったが、全員浮上してこない」とダイビングボートの船長から下田海上保安部に通報がありました。

ダイビング中のインストラクター1人と客7人のあわせて8人の行方がわからなくなりましたが、海上保安部の巡視艇などが周辺の海域の捜索を行ったところ、8人を発見し、現在、救助活動が行われているということです。
