自民 西田議員発言 “沖縄の思いに寄り添った対応を”沖縄県連
沖縄戦で犠牲となった女子生徒らを慰霊する「ひめゆりの塔」の説明をめぐる自民党の西田昌司参議院議員の発言について、党沖縄県連の幹部は「県民は非常に心の痛い日が続いている」と党本部側に苦言を呈したうえで、沖縄の思いに寄り添った対応を求めました。
西田議員は、糸満市の「ひめゆりの塔」にある、沖縄戦で犠牲となった「ひめゆり学徒隊」の説明に関する自身の発言について、不適切だったなどとして謝罪し撤回しました。
こうした中、党の沖縄振興に関する調査会の会長を務める小渕組織運動本部長は11日、那覇市を訪れて沖縄県連の幹部と面会し、「発言は大変配慮を欠いたもので県民の心を深く傷つけたと言わざるをえない。本人は反省し、発言を撤回しておわびしている。ぜひ沖縄に足を運んで理解を深め、沖縄振興にも汗をかいてもらいたい」と述べました。
これに対し、沖縄県連の島袋大会長は「不適切な発言で沖縄県民は非常に心の痛い日が続いており、党所属のわれわれとしても毎日苦しいような状況だ。沖縄の現状をしっかりと目で見て、聞いて確かめることは大事で、沖縄の思いに寄り添っていただきたい」と述べました。
