カシオは、G-SHOCKの最上位シリーズ「MR-G」 にニューモデルを追加。角型フォルムが特徴の「5000」シリーズに日本の伝統技法鎚起（ついき）を施し、力強さと優美さを表現した「MRG-B5000HT」を、8月8日に世界限定500本で発売する。
「MRG-B5000HT」は、G-SHOCK初号機を受け継ぐ角型フォルムを採用。ベゼルとバンドに匠の技が生み出す鎚起を施すことで、重厚な中に美しさを表現した。
この新作は、純チタンの約3倍の硬度を持つ、日本で開発されたチタン合金「DAT55G」を素材にセレクト。鎚起職人の渡邉和也が、1点ずつ手作業でベゼルとブレスレットに立体的な鎚目模様を刻んだ。丹念に打ち込まれた鎚目は、たがねの先端形状や鎚をふるう力加減により、唯一無二の微細な表情を生み出している。
ケースは、刀装具や装身具に用いられ独特の光沢を持つ銀灰色の朧銀（おぼろぎん）の色合いをDLC処理で表現。ビスやボタンは、深みのある輝きの銅（あかがね）色をポイントとして配し、全体に華やかさを添えている。
伝統美を生かしたデザインとG-SHOCKの卓越したタフネスを兼ね備え、最上位シリーズ 「MR-G」の名にふさわしい力強いモデルに仕上がった。
