YouTube、新しい応援方法とランキング「ハイプ」
Googleは、YouTubeの新機能として、新人クリエイターを発見してもらいやすくする「ハイプ」の提供を日本国内で開始する。

ユーザーは動画に対し従来の「高評価」に加えて「ハイプ」(Hype)を選択できるようになる。ハイプはポイント制で、ハイプポイントを多く獲得した動画はハイプランキングに掲載される可能性が高くなる。
YouTubeに新設されるハイプランキングは、チャンネル登録者数が500人～50万人のクリエイター向けのランキングで、過去1週間で獲得したハイプポイントに基づき上位100件が掲載される。「探索」セクション(トップページの左側)に追加されるハイプメニューからアクセスする。ランキングは数分ごとに更新され、ユーザー向けのパーソナライズは行なわれない日本国内で共通の内容になる。
ユーザーは、動画公開から7日間のうちに、高評価を押した後に現れるハイプボタンを押すことで、その動画をハイプできる。ハイプは週3回まで無料で利用でき、同じ動画を3回ハイプすることも、別の動画をハイプすることもできる。チャンネルの中で1カ月間に最もハイプしたユーザーにはハイプスターバッジが付与される。対象の国・地域では有料のハイプも可能。
ハイプランキングに掲載された動画は、さらにポイントを獲得する機会を得て順位を上げ、YouTubeのトップページのフィードで紹介される可能性も高まる。また、ハイプされた動画には、視聴者に人気であることを示すバッジが表示される場合もある。
ユーザー(視聴者)が動画をハイプすると、クリエイターのチャンネル登録者数に応じてハイプのボーナスポイントが自動的に付与される。チャンネル登録者数が少ないほどボーナスポイントが大きくなるため、小規模なクリエイターのコンテンツがユーザーの目に触れる機会が増えるとしている。
ハイプされている動画は特別な表示で目立つようになるほか、ユーザーはハイプした動画がハイプランキングで上位入りが近づくと通知を受け取れる。クリエイターはYouTube Studioモバイルアプリにて、各動画が獲得したハイプ回数とポイントを確認可能。動画分析には新しいハイプカードが追加され、週ごとのデータストーリーで概要を確認できる。
今後は、ゲームや料理など、特定のジャンル別のハイプランキングも追加する予定。
