「スクショ」商標登録でGMOメディアが声明 日常利用で行使は「一切ない」
GMOメディアは22日、「スクショ」の商標登録について説明するコメントを発表した。同社では、「スクショ」という言葉を日常的に使用することに対し、商標権を行使する意図は「一切ない」としている。
スクショはスクリーンショットの略称だが、先日、「スクショしよ」という名称のLINEスタンプが登録商標を含むことを理由に審査に通らなかった旨のXの投稿が話題となり、商標を持つGMOメディアへの疑問の声が上がっていた。
GMOメディアでは、「スクショは、当社における事業保全および将来的な活用の可能性を踏まえて取得・管理している商標」とし、スクショという言葉を、SNS投稿や創作活動などで日常的に使用することに対し、「当社が商標権を行使する意図は一切ない」と説明。「商標権は、商品やサービスの出所を示す目的での『商標的な使用』に対してのみ効力が及ぶものであり、一般的な言葉としての利用や、個人による表現・創作活動を制限するものではない」としている。
