6日はノーベル物理学賞の発表日です。スウェーデンのストックホルムにあるノーベル賞の選考委員会が、日本時間の6日午後6時45分以降にことしの受賞者を発表します。

物理学賞では、アメリカ国籍を取得した人を含め、これまで日本から12人が受賞しています。

論文の引用回数の多さや、国際的な学術賞の受賞歴などから注目されている研究者としては、▽コンピューター用の消費電力が極めて少ないメモリーの実現につながる「マルチフェロイック物質」の特徴を解き明かした、理化学研究所領域総括の十倉好紀さんや、▽「光格子時計」と呼ばれる100億年で1秒ほどしか狂わない極めて正確な時計を開発した、東京大学教授の香取秀俊さん、それに、▽最も強い磁力を持つ永久磁石「ネオジム磁石」を開発した、鉄鋼メーカーの顧問の佐川眞人さんなどが注目されています。
