三重 小学生が自分たちで育てた稲を刈り取り
三重県紀宝町で、小学生が自分たちで育ててきた稲の刈り取りを体験しました。
稲作が盛んな紀宝町にある神内小学校では、毎年、子どもたちが田植えから稲刈りまでの米作りを体験しています。
25日は、夏休み中の4年生から6年生までの児童6人が学校近くの田んぼに集まり、4月に苗を植えたコシヒカリの稲刈りを体験しました。
子どもたちは、地元の農家の人から鎌の使い方を教わると、早速、黄金色に実った稲を刈り取っていきました。
朝から太陽が照りつけ、気温が高い中で行われたため、稲の刈り取りは予定より30分ほど早く切り上げられ、その後は農家の人がコンバインで刈り取る様子を見学しました。
参加した5年生の男の子は「すごく楽しかったけれど暑くて疲れました。米作りは大変だと思いました」と話していました。
収穫した米は、学校で秋におにぎりにして味わうほか、近くの高齢者施設に届ける予定だということです。
