和歌山県にある世界遺産の高野山で、精進料理やめい想などを体験できる宿坊を営む複数の宗教法人が昨年度、大阪国税局の税務調査を受け、法人税や所得税などあわせて1億円を超える申告漏れを指摘されていたことが関係者への取材でわかりました。

関係者によりますと、昨年度、大阪国税局が高野山で宿坊を営む十数の宗教法人を調査したところその半数以上で法人税や所得税などの申告漏れがわかったということです。

宗教法人は宗教活動に関わる収入は課税されない一方、営利目的の事業は課税対象となります。

今回、私的な支出を経費として計上し、法人の所得を少なく申告していたほか、宿坊で得た収入を住職の家族などが私的に使っていたことが給与に当たるとして所得税の源泉徴収漏れを指摘されたケースもあり、申告漏れはあわせて1億円を超えるということです。

大阪国税局はこれらの宗教法人に重加算税を含めてあわせておよそ6000万円を追徴課税し、いずれも修正申告に応じたとみられています。

宿坊は、参拝者が寺院に宿泊して精進料理やめい想などを体験できる施設で、最近は外国人観光客からも人気を集めています。
