新型メルセデスAMG SL63 S Eパフォーマンスは、別世界!!! これまでのSLとはちょっと違う1台に迫る
日本に上陸したメルセデスAMG「SL63 S Eパフォーマンス」は、見ても乗っても華やかな1台だった！ 小川フミオがリポートする。

太い排気音とエンジン音が、V8的といえるが、吹け上がりはシャープ。知らなければ、回転を上げて走るたのしみも見つけられるという点で、知らなければ6気筒と思っても不思議ではない。そこが、メルセデスAMG的だ。
バッテリーだけで14kmの走行が可能。プラグイン・ハイブリッドにしてはだいぶ距離が短い。F1の技術を応用したという、小さくても高効率のバッテリーを使っている。
メリットは短い時間で充電できることだろう。レースで走ったときは、コーナーからの立ち上がりで（ほぼ）必ずモーターの力を借りることが出来るなど想像できる。
メルセデスAMGでは、アップ＆ダウンのあるワインディングロードを高速走行する場面を例にあげていて、「上りではただちに100%のパワーを引き出すことができる一方、くだりでは強力な回生ブレーキが実現できる」などとする。
実際、バッテリー走行は（走行も）かなり力強い。リヤアクスルにそなわったモーターのトルクは320Nmもあるので、トルクたっぷりのフィールで、ぐんぐん加速していく。依然のEQのような乱暴すぎる加速感でなく、スムーズで、走行感覚はエレガントですらある。
もちろん、個人的にもっとも好きなのは、エンジンが始動して、それを上の回転域まで回したときの加速感だ。こちらは、なんというか、ワイルド。「卓越したドライビングパフォーマンス」と、メーカーが謳うだけある。
SLは、快適なドライバビリティ、爽快なオープンエアモータリング、アクティブアンチロール機構までそなえ快適にもスポーティにも走れる足まわり、それにデザインと室内のデジタライゼーションと、多くの点で突出したモデルなのだ。
現行のメルセデスAMGのSLモデルの価格は、ベースモデルともいうべきSL43の¥17,650,000をスタートに、SL63 4MATIC＋が¥29,950,000、そして今回のトップモデルSL63 S Eパフォーマンスが¥33,500,000だ。
