オリエントスター、ペルセウス座流星群を特許技術で表現した新作
エプソン販売は、腕時計ブランド「Orient Star」(オリエントスター)の新作として、「M34 F8 デイト」のバリエーションモデルを6月10日に発売する。機械式の腕時計で、限定2機種がそれぞれ407,000円、レギュラー1機種が363,000円。限定版は国内80本限定で、公式オンラインストアでも20本限定で発売する。

「Orient Star」のフラッグシップ「コンテンポラリーコレクション M34」シリーズに加わる「M34 F8 デイト」の新作。限定バージョンには、腕時計では世界初の「金属ナノ粒子積層技術」を駆使したブラック文字板が搭載されており、夜空に降り注ぐペルセウス座流星群がデザインされている。また、グラデーション加工や平滑で厚みのあるラッピング塗装で宇宙の奥深さを表現した。
特許取得済みの「金属ナノ粒子積層技術」は、ナノメーターサイズの超微細な金属粒子で構成されたインクを時計の文字板上に複数回にわたり積層吐出する新しい表現技術。エレクトロニクス分野で使用されている技術を世界で初めて時計作りに応用し、「極めて繊細で精巧、かつ奥行き感のある文字板が表現された」とする。
レギュラーモデルのグリーン文字板は、既存のブルー文字板と同様、ペルセウス座流星群をイメージした繊細な型打模様が特徴。光学多層膜技術を活用し、見る角度によって色や模様が移ろうデザインに仕上げられている。
自社開発の光学多層膜技術は、ナノレベルのほぼ透明な膜を重ねて光の反射と透過をコントロールする光学多層膜を形成するもので、金属板上にさまざまな色調効果をもたらし、「通常の塗装文字板ではできなかった宇宙の奥深い世界の表現を可能にする」としている。
いずれもムーブメントは機械式で自動巻の自社製「キャリバーF8N64」。シリコン製がんぎ車を搭載する。精度は平均日差-5～+15秒。パワーリザーブは約60時間。石数は22石。文字板の12時位置にパワーリザーブ表示を備える。
ケース・ブレスレットはステンレススチール製。風防はSARコーティングが施された両球面サファイアクリスタル。裏蓋はサファイアクリスタルのシースルーバック。防水性能は10気圧防水。
本体サイズはケース径(横幅)が40mm、縦が47.3mm。厚さは12.9mm。
限定のブラック文字板モデル(RK-BX0007B)の80本には、メタルバンドのほかに本ワニ革バンドが同梱される。公式オンラインストア限定モデル(RK-BX0008B)の20本にはコードバン革バンドが付属する。グリーン文字板のレギュラーモデル(RK-BX0005E)にも本ワニ革バンドが付属する。
