脱炭素の燃料使用量 “世界で4倍以上に” 大阪で初の国際会議
バイオ燃料や水素をはじめ、脱炭素につながる燃料の活用を促す国際会議が大阪で初めて開かれ、主催する日本とブラジルは、2035年までに世界全体でこれらの燃料の年間使用量をこれまでの4倍以上に拡大させていく目標を示しました。
この「持続可能燃料閣僚会議」は日本・ブラジル両政府が初めて開き、大阪市の会場にはヨーロッパやアジアなど30あまりの国や国際機関が出席しました。
はじめに共同議長を務める武藤経済産業大臣が「持続可能燃料を普及させていくために各国での取り組みはもちろん、国際的な協力や官民連携が欠かせない。ぜひ、かったつな議論をお願いしたい」と述べました。
会議では、バイオ燃料や水素をはじめ脱炭素につながる燃料の活用を促すため、ハイブリッドエンジンなど自動車分野で利用を図ることの重要性や各国が実情に応じて普及を図っていくことを確認しました。
そのうえで会議を主催する日本とブラジルは、今から10年後の2035年までに世界全体でこれらの燃料の年間使用量を去年の4倍以上に拡大させ、化石燃料の利用を抑えていく目標を示しました。
今回の成果は、ことし11月にブラジルで開かれる気候変動に関する国連の会議、「COP30」でも示される見込みです。
