東京都は、ミサイルから安全に避難できるシェルター施設として、東京都八重洲駐車場を整備する。2026年度から調査を開始し、必要な改修工事を行なう。
弾道ミサイル攻撃から生命と財産を守るための避難施設の整備に向けたモデル事業で、「東京都八重洲駐車場」(東京都中央区京橋1丁目10-1地先)を整備。26年度から、詳細調査を開始するが、調査や工事中、完成後を含め、駐車場営業には影響のない見込みとしている。
東京都では、都営地下鉄麻布十番駅に併設された都防災倉庫に次ぐ2例目となる。
東京都の小池百合子都知事は、「首都東京の玄関口の東京駅に近く、また屋外に多くの人が滞在する地域であり、施設整備の効果が高いと見込まれていることから選んだ」と説明している。
