PayPay、悪質ECサイトでの返金詐欺に注意
PayPayは、ショッピングサイトでの商品購入後に「在庫がないためPayPayで返金します」と称してPayPay残高を騙し取る手口を確認したとして、注意を呼びかけている。

主な手口としては、返金手続きと称してLINEなどのビデオ通話を利用し、「PayPay」の操作を指示し送金や支払いをさせるというもの。
PayPayでは、このような「PayPayで返金する」と言われた場合でも、操作は行なわないよう呼びかけている。ショッピングサイトから支払いの返金を受ける際、送金や支払い、アプリでの番号入力などの操作が必要になることはない。
また、PayPayではこれまでの取引状況や、ユーザー自身のPayPayアプリの利用状況などを参考にして、詐欺などの不正な送金かもしれないと判断した場合は、送金時に警告メッセージを表示している。送金する際は、送り先に不審な点がないか、あらためて確認するよう促している。
PayPayは、セキュリティ専任スタッフが、24時間365日体制で不正な利用がないかを監視しており、不正利用を検知・判断した場合は、取引やアカウント利用を停止するなど、不正利用による被害拡大を防止している。
