米大統領選番組訴訟 CBS側がトランプ氏側に23億円和解金で合意
アメリカのCBSテレビが放送した大統領選挙の関連番組が偏っているとしてトランプ大統領が訴えていた裁判で、CBSテレビの親会社は日本円で23億円の和解金を支払うことで合意しました。経営上のリスクを避けるためだとしていますが、報道の自由を脅かす前例になると危惧する声もあがっています。
CBSテレビが大統領選挙を控えた去年10月に放送した民主党のハリス候補のインタビューをめぐり、トランプ大統領はハリス氏に有利な編集で偏っていたと主張して親会社のメディア大手パラマウント・グローバルに損害賠償を求める訴えを起こしていました。
これについてCBSテレビによりますと1日、パラマウント・グローバルがトランプ氏側に1600万ドル、日本円でおよそ23億円の和解金を支払うことなどで合意したということです。
大統領側は2日「フェイクニュースメディアの不正と虚偽の責任を問うことで国民に新たな勝利をもたらした」とコメントしました。
一方、パラマウント・グローバルは番組はあくまで通常のプロセスに沿って編集されたものだったとして和解は高額の裁判費用や混乱のリスクを避けるための経営上の判断だと説明しています。
専門家などからはメディアの自主規制にもつながりかねず、報道の自由を脅かす前例になるなどと危惧する声もあがっています。
