NTT 「104」サービス 3月31日終了 電話番号を有料で案内
NTT東日本と西日本の電話番号を有料で案内する「104」のサービスが31日で終了します。
「104」は、個人や店舗などの電話番号をオペレーターが案内するサービスで、1890年に電話交換業務が始まってから136年間続いてきました。
しかしスマートフォンが普及しインターネットで電話番号を調べられるようになったことから、1989年度に12億回余りあった利用は、直近の2024年度でおよそ1000万回まで減少していました。
このため会社ではきょうでサービスを終了することになり、NTT東日本では2か所あるコールセンターをオンラインでつないで閉所式を行いました。
28年間オペレーターを務めた中島典子さんは「多くの若い人はサービス自体を知らない時代ですが、長い歴史があって、人のために役立ってきたんだといま実感しています」と話していました。
