京王電鉄、井の頭線で自動運転の実証実験
京王電鉄は、井の頭線において、自動運転(ワンマン運転)の実証実験を3月中旬から開始する。自動運転システムを搭載した井の頭線1000系を走行試験車両として使用し、回送列車で運転士と車掌が乗務した状態で走行する。

自動運転システムの安全性・安定性、自動運転時に乗務員が行なう業務・動作等の確認を目的とした実証実験。試験編成は1778編成(順次増備予定)。試験場所は井の頭線全線(営業キロ12.7km)。昼夜、夜間ともに行なう。
自動運転システムは、出発制御や駅間走行制御、定位置停止制御(TASC)などを備える。ブレーキ制御機能なども向上させ、安全性・省エネ性の向上を図る。
走行制御は、先行列車との間隔や曲線、分岐、下り勾配、停車駅などさまざまな条件をもとに、常に適正な速度で走行するよう列車をきめ細かく制御する自動列車制御装置「ATC」を搭載。ATCの指示速度以下となるように目標速度を定め、自動的に加速・減速制御する。
通過駅強制停車ボタンも備え、車内トラブルの発生時に乗務員が操作することで、最寄りの駅に強制的・自動的に定位置に停車。同機能を操作すると自動的に車内ビジョンに「近くの駅に停車します」と表示される。
ブレーキは従来の7段階から28段階に変更。きめ細やかなブレーキ操作を実現し、停止精度と乗り心地向上を図る。
すべての乗客に安心して利用してもらえるよう、車内案内表示器は多言語表記ができる仕様に更新。開いているドアをチャイム音で知らせる装置も設置する。
車体デザインは、自動運転機能搭載車両と区別できるように変更する。外観にアクセントラインやシンボルマークを追加。若手社員が考案したデザインで、シンボルマークは井の頭線の「井」の字がモチーフとなっており、編成ごとのカラー名称をあしらう。
また、今回の改造に合わせ、乗務員室と客室間の仕切り窓を一部拡大し、子供が前面展望を楽しめるようにした。
なお当面の間、当該車両を通常の営業運転に使用する場合は、運転士・車掌が乗務し、運転士による手動運転を行なう。
