沖縄 辺野古沖の転覆事故 海上保安本部が転覆した船2隻を押収

アメリカ軍普天間基地の移設工事が行われている沖縄県名護市辺野古の沖合で、研修旅行中の高校生など2人が死亡した船の転覆事故で、海上保安本部が転覆した2隻の船を押収したことが捜査関係者への取材で分かりました。海上保安本部が業務上過失致死傷などの疑いで事故の原因や安全管理体制について捜査しています。

先月16日、アメリカ軍普天間基地の移設工事が行われている名護市辺野古の沖合で、研修旅行の一環として見学に訪れていた京都府にある同志社国際高校の生徒たちを乗せた2隻の船が相次いで転覆して、17歳の女子生徒と71歳の男性船長が死亡し、生徒12人を含む、あわせて14人がけがをしました。

第11管区海上保安本部は先月、業務上過失致死傷などの疑いで船長が所属する団体の関係先を捜索しましたが、捜査関係者によりますと、転覆した2隻の船を2日までに押収したということです。

船が転覆した現場は水深が急に浅くなっているため波が高くなりやすく、2隻はいずれも左斜め前方からのうねりを伴った高波を受けて転覆したとみられています。

また、団体は気象条件など出航判断の基準を明文化しておらず、事故当日は周辺の海域に波浪注意報が出されている中、船長の判断で出航を決めたということです。
