ハーレーダビッドソンのファクトリーメイドカスタム、ブレイクアウトの2025年モデルに試乗した。
ロー＆ロングのチョッパースタイル、240mmの極太リアタイヤ、ギラギラと輝くクロームパーツ。誰もが思い描くハーレー像をそのまま体現したようなこのモデルは、数あるハーレーのラインナップの中でもとくに人気が高い。
2025年モデルは外観に従来モデルとの明確な違いがある。楕円形の異形ヘッドライトはクラシカルな丸型ケースへと変更になり、ハンドルバーに内蔵されていた小型メーターは、大径のシングルメーターとなりハンドル上に配置された。
端的に言えば、これまでの尖ったカスタムモデルというイメージに対し、ややクラシカルな印象となった。
試乗したのは最高気温35度を超える猛暑日。美しく切削されたアルミ製キャストホイールのブラックの塗装と切削断面のシルバーが組み合わされる26本のスポークが、アスファルトからの照り返しをギラギラと反射させ、黒いブレイクアウトの存在感を際立たせている。
いざ跨がり、ライディングポジションをとると、身長173cmの僕では両足を大きく前に投げ出さなければステップに届かない。できれば身長175cm以上は欲しいところだ。
ただしシート高は665mmと低く、足着きは良好。重心も低いため300kgを超える重量級の車重でも不安は感じさせない。
