錣山部屋で序二段19枚目の天は、6戦全勝で迎えた13日目の25日、同じく6勝とした伊勢ヶ濱部屋の翠河富士と対戦しました。

天は横浜市出身の27歳。相撲は未経験で入門し、平成29年の春場所で初土俵を踏みました。

四つ相撲を得意として4年前の九州場所では幕下まで番付を上げましたが、その場所は1勝6敗にとどまり、その後は三段目と序二段を行き来していました。

天は「緊張はあったが、割り切っていった。まだ実感はないがうれしい。一番一番、集中する気持ちで相撲を取った」と振り返りました。

そのうえで「これまで番付を上げられなかったのは気持ちの問題で、気持ちを強くしたい。幕下では1勝しかしていないので、幕下に戻りたい」と意気込んでいました。
