動画AIのRunway、日本市場進出 4000万ドル投資
米国のクリエイティブAIスタートアップRunway(ランウェイ)は14日、日本市場への進出を発表した。東京オフィスを開設し、日本での事業基盤構築に向けて初期投資として4,000万ドルを投じる。あわせて、日本事業を統括する責任者を採用する。
同社によると、日本は企業顧客と個人利用者の双方で第3位の市場。アジアではもっとも成長の速いセルフサービス市場で、過去12カ月の企業顧客数は300%増加した。アジア全体の販売量の3分の1を日本が占めているという。
Runwayは、生成AIを活用した映像制作などのクリエイティブツールを展開している。日本では、映像作家やデザイナー、マーケティング担当者がワークフローに同社ツールを取り入れているとし、ヤマハ、ソフトバンク、NHNなどがマーケティングや広告、クリエイティブ制作のプロセスで利用している。
日本事業を統括する責任者は、プロダクト、エンジニアリング、セールス、カスタマーデプロイメントの各領域でチーム構築を進める。日本のクリエイティブ産業とエンタープライズ市場の双方を理解し、制作、広告、ロボティクスなどの分野で国内企業と連携する人材を求める。
Runwayは、日本やアジアの主要市場について、ロボティクス、製造業、ゲーム産業でも重要な地域と位置付ける。
