グーグル、Chromeで縦型タブに対応

グーグルは、Chromeで「縦型タブ」と、全画面表示に対応した新しい読書モードの提供を順次開始した。ブラウザ内の作業効率向上や集中しやすい閲覧環境の提供を目的とした機能強化が行なわれた。 追加された縦型タブは、Chromeウィンドウ上で右クリックし、「Show Tabs Vertically(タブを縦に表示)」を選択することで利用できる。タブを画面上部ではなく側面に配置することで、ページタイトルを全文表示しやすくし、複数タブを開いた状態でも識別しやすくした。 タブ数が2桁に増えた場合でも管理しやすい点を特徴としており、複数ページを並行して閲覧したり、日常的に多数のタブを開いて作業が可能。 あわせて、従来提供していた読書モードも刷新。Webページ上で右クリックし、「Open in reading mode(読書モードで開く)」を選択することで利用できる。 同モードでは、ページ内の視覚的な要素を取り除き、本文を中心とした表示に切り替える。今回、新たにフルページインターフェイスに対応したことで、より没入感のあるテキスト閲覧環境を実現した。
