読売新聞 “結果として誤報” おわび 検証記事掲載
読売新聞は、ことし7月に「石破総理大臣が退陣する意向を固めた」と報じたことについて、3日の朝刊で「石破総理大臣が周囲に『辞める』と明言したことを踏まえて報道したが、結果として誤報となった」としておわびし、検証記事を掲載するとともに、専務取締役らの処分を行う方針を公表しました。
読売新聞は、ことし7月23日の夕刊1面と号外、それに24日の朝刊1面で「石破首相退陣へ」という記事を掲載し、号外では「月内にも退陣を表明する方向で調整する」と報じました。
これらの一連の記事について、読売新聞は3日朝の朝刊に検証記事を掲載しました。
それによりますと、読売新聞の取材では7月22日の夜以降、周辺にアメリカとの関税交渉の結果が出たら「辞める」と明言していたことや、23日に予定されていた総理大臣経験者との会合で進退に関する考えを説明すると周辺に伝えていたことなどから報道したものの、報道の後、石破総理大臣が翻意した可能性があるとしています。
読売新聞は「結果として誤報となった」としておわびし、9月9日付けで、
▽編集担当の前木理一郎専務取締役と
▽滝鼻太郎編集局長をそれぞれ役員報酬や給与を1か月、10％返上の処分とするほか
▽川嶋三恵子政治部長と政治部次長をけん責
▽首相官邸クラブキャップを厳重注意とするとしています。
