広島市で77人が犠牲となった土砂災害から20日で12年です。大きな被害があった広島市安佐南区では、遺族や地域の人が亡くなった人たちを追悼しました。

2014年8月20日の広島市の土砂災害では、集中的な豪雨によって市内の166か所で土石流や崖崩れが発生し、災害関連死を含めて77人が亡くなりました。

安佐南区八木3丁目にある慰霊碑には、この地域で亡くなった25人の名前が刻まれていて、20日朝、住民などおよそ40人が出席して追悼行事が開かれました。

出席者全員で黙とうをささげたあと、慰霊碑の前に設けられた献花台に花を手向けて犠牲者を悼みました。

当時63歳の夫を亡くした西田一代さんは、「この時期になるとどうしても災害のことを思い出します。いつ被害に遭うかわからないので自分自身が気をつけないといけないと思います」と話していました。

地区の町内会の会長を務める財原一夫さんは「この12年で世帯数が減るなど地区の様子は変わりましたが、生かされた私たちはこの地をきれいにして、亡くなられた方の慰霊を続けていかないといけないと決意を新たにしました」と話していました。
