14日夜遅く、新潟県南魚沼市の関越自動車道で大型トラック2台と乗用車1台のあわせて3台が関係する事故があり、2人が死亡、2人が重軽傷を負いました。警察は事故の詳しい状況を調べています。

14日午後11時半ごろ、南魚沼市四十日の関越自動車道の上り線で、大型トラックが故障して止まっていたところ、後ろから走ってきた別の大型トラックと乗用車が次々に追突しました。

警察によりますと、この事故で乗用車に乗っていたいずれも40代の男性2人が病院に運ばれましたが、頭を強く打つなどしていてその後、死亡が確認されました。

また、それぞれの大型トラックを運転していたいずれも60代の男性2人が重軽傷を負いました。

現場は六日町インターチェンジのおよそ1.6キロ手前の片側2車線のほぼ直線で、警察は事故の詳しい状況や原因を調べています。

この事故の影響で関越自動車道は魚沼インターチェンジと六日町インターチェンジの間の上り線で15日午前6時すぎまでおよそ6時間半にわたって通行止めになりました。
