猛暑や水不足でコメの生育への影響懸念 茨城 筑西
コメどころの茨城県筑西市では猛暑や水不足が続いていて、農家はコメの生育に影響が出ることを懸念しています。
水戸地方気象台によりますと筑西市では先月、35度以上の猛暑日が17日と去年より3日増え、1か月の雨量は48.5ミリと平年の30％程度にとどまりました。
農業法人を経営する大嶋康司さんは、およそ38ヘクタールの田んぼでコシヒカリなどを育てていますが、地下水を十分に確保できないほか、場所によっては、田んぼに水を張ってもすぐに乾燥してしまう状況が続いているということです。
このため大嶋さんは、地下水をくみ上げるポンプの稼働時間を増やし、来月から収穫を始める予定ですが、このままではイネが十分に育たず、品質が低下したり、収量が減ったりするのではないかと懸念しています。
さらにことしはイネの品質に悪影響を及ぼすカメムシも多く発生しているということで、大嶋さんは一部の田んぼに農薬をまくなどの対策を行っています。
大嶋さんは「乾いている田んぼのイネも今のところ枯れずにすんでいるが、これ以上暑さが続くと、コメの品質が下がってしまう。こうした天候が続くとコメの増産は難しい」と話していました。
