香川 小豆島 道の駅でオリーブの花が咲き始める
全国一のオリーブの産地、香川県の小豆島で県の花にも指定されているオリーブの花が咲き始め、訪れた人たちを楽しませています。
小豆島町の道の駅「小豆島オリーブ公園」では、瀬戸内海を見下ろせる丘の上に20品種、およそ2000本のオリーブの木が植えられています。
このうちスペイン産の「マンザニロ」という品種は、ほかの品種に先駆けて今月23日に開花しました。
直径3ミリほどの白いかれんな花を咲かせ、今満開を迎えています。
公園によりますと、ことしの花の付き具合は例年並みか少し多く、今後の天候に恵まれれば例年並みのオリーブの収穫が期待できるということです。
取材した26日は国内だけでなく海外からの観光客も大勢訪れ、オリーブの花を見たり、花の香りを楽しんだりしながら写真に収めていました。
岩手県から訪れた女性は「小さいのが集まっていてかれんなイメージ、かわいらしい花だと思う」と話していました。
徳島県から訪れた女性は「こんなに小さな花なのにすごくいい匂いがする」と花に顔を近づけて香りを楽しんでいました。
小豆島オリーブ公園ではこのあとも園内のオリーブの花が相次いで開花し、花は来月上旬まで楽しむことができそうだということです。
