新型メルセデスAMG SL63 S Eパフォーマンスは、華麗なる1台だ!!! SLの進化に迫る
日本に上陸したメルセデスAMG「SL63 S Eパフォーマンス」は、見ても乗っても華やかな1台だった！ 小川フミオがリポートする。

超ド級の出力を誇る、パワートレインを搭載したメルセデスAMGの新型SL63 S Eパフォーマンスが、2024年12月に日本で発売された。
このオープン・スポーツモデルに乗ったが、意外にも、ドライブフィールはパワー一辺倒でなく、エレガンスを感じさせるものだった。
SLは初代が1955年に誕生して以来、連綿と作り続けられるメルセデス・ベンツのスポーツモデルで、映画では『死刑台のエレベーター』や『アメリカンジゴロ』が、すぐ思いつく。
現行モデルは、2021年に登場。そのとき大きな話題となったのは、ブランドが“メルセデス・ベンツ”でなく“メルセデスAMG”となったこと。
布張りのトップをそなえた2プラス2というパッケージングは、従来のモデルからの継承だけれど、見た目がメルセデスAMGの「GT」的というか、よりスポーティさが強調されたものとなった。
実際、当初の日本導入モデルSL43は、電動ターボチャージャー搭載4気筒で、2.0リッターとは思えないほど速かった。
23年4月には、4リッターV8エンジンに全輪駆動システムを組み合わせたSL63 4MATIC＋が追加され、そして、24年には今回のプラグイン・ハイブリッドシステムを4.0リッターV8エンジンに組み合わせたSL63 S Eパフォーマンスが加わり、贅沢な3本立てとなっている。
SL63 S Eパフォーマンスは、トータル最高出力600kW、同最大トルク1420Nmと、数字でみると、ちょっと信じられないような性能数値を持つ。
ただ実際は、スポーツカーのようなテイストではない。
メルセデス・ベンツ的というか、ものすごいパワーをうまく制御していて、上記の数値を知らなければ、トルクの太い多気筒エンジン車を運転している感覚に終始してしまうかもしれない。
