東北新幹線「E10系」開発 2030年度営業予定
JR東日本は、E2系とE5系新幹線車両の後継となる、次期東北新幹線車両「E10系」の設計に着手する。2027年秋以降に落成し、走行試験などを行なった後、2030年度の営業運転開始を目指す。

車両形式はE10系新幹線電車。最高営業運転速度は320km/時。編成両数は10両。次世代新幹線開発の試験プラットフォーム「ALFA-X」で検証してきた技術を活用し、地震対策として逸脱防止用のL型車両ガイド、ブレーキ距離の短縮、地震時の揺れを吸収し車両の損傷や脱線を防止するための左右動ダンパの採用など、より高い安全性を目指す。
このほか、「TRAIN DESK」を発展させたサービスの導入や授乳室の設置、大型荷物置き場の拡幅など、より快適な移動空間の提供を目指してサービスをデザインしていく。車椅子に乗ったまま車窓を楽しめる車椅子スペースの設置など、バリアフリー環境の向上も努める。
TRAIN DESKは、シート配列を2列+2列とし、現在と比べて隣席とのスペースにゆとりを創出。座席間にはディバイダを設置し、隣席との遮音性とプライベート感を向上させる。コンセントは全席に設置し、USB電源も備える。Wi-Fiルータも増設し、通信環境を改善する。
同社が進めている荷物輸送サービス「はこビュン」の柔軟性を高めるために、5号車には荷物輸送用ドアを設置。始発・終着駅以外での積み下ろしを可能にする。
車両デザインは、東北地方の山々を想起させる緑色を基調に、次期東北新幹線車両がつなぐ沿線各地の山々などの自然から得たインスピレーションをイメージしたカラーリングとした。
上部の明るい緑色は 「Tsugaru green(津軽グリーン)」、下部の濃い緑色は 「Evening elm(イブニングエルム)」としている。車体横のラインにより、これまでの新幹線のイメージを継承しながらも、日本らしさを表現するモチーフとして「桜の花弁」の形状を模した曲線を車両間でつなげ、新幹線車両のデザインに新たなイメージを吹き込む。
デザイナーには、同社車両として初めての海外デザインファームとなるtangerineを採用。
車両の状態に応じた適切な保守を行なう「スマートメンテナンス」に対応可能な車両システムも導入。また、新幹線営業車では初となる、冷却モータが不要なブロアレス誘導電動機(自己通風型誘導電動機)の採用や、車両駆動インバータに高効率な SiC(シリコンカーバイド)素子の採用により、車両駆動システムの効率向上を図る。
また、将来的な東北新幹線の自動運転導入を目指した機能搭載の準備を行なうなど、今後の持続可能な鉄道システムにも挑戦するとしている。
今後予定されている札幌開業に伴い運用する車両については、今回設計する車両をベースに別途検討する。
