デジタルセキュリティ・プライバシーアプリ「NordVPN」は、iOS向けに迷惑SMS対策機能と、通話保護アプリ「HangUp」を提供開始した。迷惑SMS対策はNordVPNアプリ内で利用でき、HangUpは無料の独立型アプリとして提供する。両機能ともAndroid向けには今年初めから提供している。
迷惑SMS対策は、知らない送信者から届いたSMSをチェックし、電話番号の評価データやURL分析、コンテンツの分類情報などと照合する。不審なメッセージを検出すると、脅威の種類と推奨される対処方法をプッシュ通知で知らせる。検知したメッセージは安全なビューで開き、リンクの誤操作を防ぐ。ダッシュボードでは検知内容や頻度も確認できる。
設定は、アプリのインストール時またはアプリ内の「Product hub」から行なえる。一度設定すれば、VPNのオン・オフにかかわらずバックグラウンドで動作する。
HangUpでは、着信をリアルタイムでスクリーニングし、発信者を表示。「詐欺」「テレマーケティング」「アンケート」「債権回収」「不正行為」などに分類し、指定したカテゴリーの着信を自動的にブロックできる。通話履歴にはブロックした着信と理由を記録する。
同アプリは、NordVPNの有料契約がなくても、無料のNordアカウントがあれば利用できる。
