米 エネルギー長官 来日とりやめ 原油安定供給懸念が背景か

今週末、東京で開かれるエネルギー担当相による会合に出席予定だった、アメリカのライト エネルギー長官が来日をとりやめたことが関係者への取材で分かりました。イラン情勢の緊迫化にともない、原油の安定供給に懸念が生じていることが背景にあるとみられます。

日米やアジアなどのエネルギー担当相が参加する「インド太平洋エネルギー安全保障閣僚・ビジネスフォーラム」は、今月14日から2日間の日程で初めて東京で開かれ、エネルギーの確保に向けた連携について議論する予定です。

この会合は日米両政府が主催で、アメリカの担当閣僚の1人としてライト エネルギー長官が出席する予定でしたが、関係者によりますと、来日をとりやめたことが分かりました。

イラン情勢の緊迫化にともない、原油の安定供給に懸念が生じていることが背景にあるとみられます。

ライト長官は、今回の来日にあわせて、赤澤経済産業大臣との会談や、レアアースなどの重要鉱物の供給網の強化に関する閣僚会合などにも出席する予定でしたが、別の閣僚による対応が検討されているということです。
